Labor Day 2007 - Focus on Process Safety

Over 1.1 million Americans are involved in the synthesis, manufacturing, sales and distribution of chemicals. 42% of the US GDP requires the use of chlorine or chloro-alkalis. So, if you think you can live without hazardous materials, you are mistaken.

As we approach Labor Day in the US, I think it is important to remember that annually people die because chemicals were improperly stored, handled and used.

At the same time I know certain industries are using this three day period to perform maintenance, improve the output of their processes, and perform important safety inspections and repairs. Remember to follow the prescribed work plan, respect any Management Of Change event, and correctly and sequentially perform proper process start up. I hopefully can have you at my home next week, next month or next year for a well deserved holiday.
